Tuesday, October 22, 2024 @ 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm
Event Navigation
Join the Center for Consumer Law and Economic Justice and the Consumer Advocacy and Protection Society for a lunchtime discussion with Shelmun Dashan (she/they), the Deputy Director at the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Responsibility. A consumer advocate by training and at heart, Shelmun worked at Legal Aid Chicago and the AIDS Legal Council project at Legal Council for Health Justice, where she fought for low-income people in facing debt collection suits and foreclosures, as well as tenants in low-income housing and nursing home residents. Now, she helps run the state department responsible for supervising and regulating most financial institutions in one of the country’s most important financial and commercial centers. Come hear from someone who has dedicated their career to economic justice–and how you might be able to as well.
RSVP BY NOON ON MONDAY 10/21 for lunch!
