Discrimination as Exploitation – Talk with Prof. Diana Reddy
Wednesday, September 23, 2026 @ 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm

THE EVENT WILL NOW TAKE PLACE IN LAW 170 — New room!
Prof. Diana Reddy will present an anti-discrimination paradigm for the bad jobs economy. Sixty years after Title VII became law, Black, Latino, and other workers of color are dramatically overrepresented in gig, contingent, and sub-minimum-wage work, and women still predominate in the forty lowest-paying occupations in the American economy. Most scholarship on the failures of antidiscrimination law focuses either on the evolving nature of prejudice or on judicial erosion of pro-plaintiff doctrines. However, Reddy argues that discrimination law fails the workers who need it most because it remains premised on an increasingly outdated understanding of where, why, and how labor market discrimination predominates.
Join us for lunch as Prof. Reddy presents her most recent work. RSVP here.
