Critical Foundations: Critical Race Theory with Prof. Osagie Obasogie

Wednesday, October 29, 2025 @ 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm

Join us for a conversation with Professor Osagie Obasogie and Savala Nolan about critical race theory. They’ll discuss its basic tenets, its uses (and misuses) across the law, politics, and culture, and how students can engage the analytical tools of CRT to advance their social justice work in and beyond law school.

Osagie K. Obasogie is the Haas Distinguished Chair and Professor of Law at UC Berkeley, with joint appointments in the Joint Medical Program and the School of Public Health. He holds a B.A. from Yale University, a J.D. from Columbia Law School, and a Ph.D. in Sociology from UC Berkeley. His extensive scholarly work focuses on the intersection of law, race, and medicine, covering topics like policing, bioethics, and reproductive technologies. He has written for prestigious academic journals and major public outlets, and his book Blinded By Sight won the Herbert Jacob Book Prize.

Lunch will be served inside of Room 170 starting at 12:40 PM. RSVPs will be prioritized. RSVP Here
