Event Navigation

Can federal officers be sued for violations of Constitutional rights? Why are federal officers treated differently under the law? How were federal officers held accountable at the founding? What legal strategies and defenses shape federal officer liability today?
Please join us for a discussion of the issues with civil rights lawyer Bhavani Raveendran, who led the trial team that won a historic $98.65 million verdict for the shooting death of Botham Jean by former Dallas Police Officer Amber Guyger, and legal historian Nathaniel Wald Donahue, an expert on how officers were held accountable at common law at the founding.
Cosponsored with the Berkeley Judicial Institute. The Conversation series is supported by a gift from AAJ’s Robert L. Habush Endowment.
