Comfort Women: The Uncomfortable Truth

Wednesday, April 7, 2021 @ 5:30 pm - 6:45 pm

Join Berkeley Law’s Korea Law Center, APALSA, and the Asian-American Law Journal for a discussion on the “comfort women” issue and the recent publication of Harvard Law’s Prof. Ramseyer’s article, “Contracting for Sex in the Pacific War,” which attempts to argue that young women and girls voluntarily contracted themselves into sex work during the World War II. The discussion will focus on: 1) Prof. Ramseyer’s article and its impact on Korea-Japan relations; 2) Article publisher/journal’s integrity, standards, and ethics; and 3) Morality and legality of the comfort women system.
