Center for Consumer Law and Economic Justice – Welcome and Orientation I

Friday, August 30, 2019 @ 12:45 pm - 2:00 pm

Concerned about predatory payday loans? How about your own student loans? Want to do something to stop abuses by companies like Equifax, Wells Fargo, Corinthian Colleges, Volkswagen, opioid manufacturers, data aggregators, unscrupulous landlords, robo-callers? Want to help resist efforts by the federal Administration to roll back protections for servicemembers, deprive student borrowers of promised relief, and gut the CFPB? Come learn about consumer law — the one area of law that lets you do something about all of this — and hear how you can get involved in fighting for economic justice in the courts and the legislature. (Or how you can help your future clients avoid problems like these in the first place.) The Center for Consumer Law & Economic Justice is one of Berkeley Law’s newest institutions, and the only academic center of its kind in the nation. Come to this special welcome and orientation for 1Ls (and others who are around the building on Friday and looking for pizza).
