California in Crisis Part I: “Total Recall”

Thursday, September 12, 2024 @ 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm

The 2019 election of Chesa Boudin as San Francisco District Attorney was seen as a major victory by the ‘progressive prosecutor’ movement. But after an unpopular start to his term as DA, civic reform activist Richie Greenberg initiated a grassroots movement that resulted in Boudin’s ouster by a landslide margin in June of 2022. Since then, ‘progressive’ politicians across the Bay Area ranging from Alameda County DA Pamela Price to Oakland Mayor Sheng Thao have faced recall elections of their own as a result of activism by concerned citizens. Join us in room 132 at 1PM on September 12 to hear this remarkable story from Richie Greenberg himself, and of his vision for how San Francisco and the Bay Area as a whole can move forward.

This event is Part I of II of the Berkeley Law Federalist Society’s “California in Crisis” series providing a forum for policy discussions about local issues.
