CA Supreme Court Oral Arguments: Does CA law require a jury trial when civil penalties are at issue?

Should the defendant in a civil action brought under California’s Unfair Competition Law be entitled to a jury trial if civil penalties are sought? What about those sued by the government under the False Advertising Law? The California Supreme Court will be hearing the oral arguments for Nationwide Biweekly Administration. Inc., et al. v. Superior Court of Alameda County (People, Real Party in Interest), which will address these important questions. Please join CAPS in watching the live stream of the oral arguments.
