Join us for a discussion with one of the foremost voices in marine and environmental science, presented by Berkeley Law’s Center for Law, Energy & the Environment, Edley Center for Law and Democracy, and Human Rights Center. Breakfast refreshments will be served on a first-come, first-served basis.
Dr. Jane Lubchenco is a marine ecologist and environmental scientist, with expertise in the ocean, climate change, and interactions between the environment and human well-being. She was an inaugural member of President Obama’s “Science Dream Team,” serving as Under Secretary of Commerce for Oceans and Atmosphere and the Administrator of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration from 2009-2013. From 2014 to 2016 she served as the first U.S. Science Envoy for the Ocean. To introduce her to his Senate colleagues for her confirmation hearing, Senator Ron Wyden called Lubchenco “the bionic woman of good science.” She just completed nearly four years in the White House, leading the Climate and Environment team at the Office of Science and Technology Policy.
