About Our Speaker
Alec Karakatsanis is the Founder and Executive Director of Civil Rights Corps, where he has pioneered groundbreaking constitutional civil rights cases challenging the size, power, profit, and everyday brutality of the punishment bureaucracy across the United States.
Working alongside directly impacted communities, Alec has designed innovative legal, advocacy, and narrative strategies to challenge widespread illegal and harmful practices by prosecutors, police, probation officers, judges, and private companies profiting from the punishment bureaucracy.
About the Book
Alec will be discussing his new book, “Copaganda: How Police and the Media Manipulate Our News” – a crucial examination of how media narratives shape public understanding of criminal justice.
