Berkeley Art, Law, and Finance Project: Hidden Layers: AI Infrastructures and Hallucinations Opening Reception
Thursday, September 3, 2026 @ 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm
Event Navigation

Co-sponsored by the Berkeley Art, Law, and Finance Project, Hidden Layers brings together international artists working at the intersection of contemporary art and machine learning to make visible the layers of artificial intelligence that normally stay out of sight: among them, its planetary infrastructure, its ideological biases, its unexpected outputs. Taking the “hidden layers” of neural networks as its conceptual frame, the exhibition asks what AI conceals and what it invents, foregrounding the hallucinations, biases, and latent spaces through which these systems generate images, texts, and worlds. Participating artists include Nouf Aljowaysir, Gašper Beguš, Nina Beguš & Metahaven, Grégory Chatonsky, Jill Miller & Asma Kazmi, Greg Niemeyer, Mario Santamaria & Alex Saum-Pascual, and more to be announced.
