Rethinking Copyright and Photography
This presentation will discuss how courts have treated photographs as copyrightable and how they have addressed (or not addressed) identifying specific elements in photographs that are protectable under copyright law. We will show lots of pictures and invite discussion from the audience.
Simon Frankel, partner at Covington, is an experienced litigator who specializes in complex civil disputes and copyright and trademark cases, with an emphasis on the technology and consumer products sectors. He is chair of Covington’s Intellectual Property Rights practice group.
Kanu Song is an associate in Covington’s S.F. office, where her practice focuses on complex commercial litigation, including intellectual property disputes and class actions. Prior to joining the firm, Ms. Song clerked for Judge William Alsup of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California, specializing in intellectual property and other civil litigation.
The BCLT/BTLJ Law & Tech Speaker Series features local practitioners, bringing real world experience and practical legal knowledge to Berkeley Law students.
