BCLT/BTLJ: What is the Berkeley IP Lab?

Thursday, April 12, 2018 @ 12:45 pm - 1:45 pm

What is the Berkeley IP Lab?

The Berkeley IP Lab, which will be offered this coming Fall, is an innovative and rewarding course where students interested in patent law get a hands-on experience representing real startups in the Bay Area under the supervision of a practicing lawyer from a leading law firm.

Come hear Prof. Rob Merges , who designed the course, and Eneda Hoxha ’16, who took it when she was a student, describe how students meet with their client, learn about its innovative technology and, at the end of the course, present their results to their client in a meeting typical of an attorney-client interaction. Learn about the “freedom to operate” survey and its importance to the funding and licensing strategies of early stage businesses, especially in the life sciences.

Gregoire sandwiches will be available on a first come, first served basis for those staying for the entire presentation.

Co-sponsored by Berkeley Center for Law & Technology & Berkeley Technology Law Journal.
