Event Navigation

Join us for a conversation with independent journalist Brian Barth, who is touring in support of his new book, Front Street: Resistance and Rebirth in the Tent Cities of Techlandia. Through on-the-ground reporting and personal stories, Barth explores the rise of tent cities across the Bay Area and the communities that have formed within them in the shadow of the tech economy.
In this talk, Barth will discuss the people, politics, and policies that shape homelessness in the region, as well as the acts of resistance, mutual aid, and survival that often go unseen. He will also be joined by members of Wood Street Common’s and protagonists within the book such as Lamonte Ford, John Janosko, and Ifalayo Arike. We will trace the history of resistance with legendary civil rights attorney Osha Neumann who led EBCLC’s homeless law practice for 18 years and won historic legal victories on behalf of unhoused people in the East Bay. The event will include discussion and be followed by an opportunity for audience questions and conversation. Please RSVP to get food, disability accommodations, and stay involved: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1o4kAocQVmFYfyh3D1f5GQG7FE36qiUWBYegSqv8gLfU/viewform?edit_requested=true
