2024 Cooter-Rubinfeld Lecture

Monday, October 28, 2024 @ 12:15 pm - 2:00 pm

Flyer for the 2024 Cooter-Rubinfeld Lecture with Ian Ayres

The Power of Resisted Temptation

With Ian Ayres, Oscar M. Reubhausen Professor and former Deputy Dean of Yale Law School.

Resisting a temptation may make it easier to stick to your goals. The act of foregoing a tempting offer is a sunk opportunity cost. Sunk opportunity costs, like sunk costs, can causally affect subsequent behavior. Resisting the temptation to quit the gym or to quit your job might keep you engaged in those activities longer than if you had not been tempted. Tempting you not to quit smoking may help you quit.

Please join the Law, Economics, and Politics Center on Monday, October 28, 2024 from 12:15-2pm in Room 170 (Koret).

Registration is required as seating is limited. Please RSVP here.
