Berkeley Law’s Jurisprudence and Social Policy Department is pleased to invite you to the 2019 Gateway Conference. Gateway is a small internal conference in which our first-year students present a paper or idea alongside a panel of one faculty member and one advanced student. The idea is that the first-year gets some new insights into the project, older students build their experience commenting on disparate papers outside their comfort zone, and everyone has a good time. In keeping with JSP’s interdisciplinary ethos, the faculty member and advanced student do not study the same things as the first-year, thus diversifying the conversations.
This year, all events will be at the Center for the Study of Law and Society (2240 Piedmont Ave., right behind the law school). All panels will be in the Selznick Conference room. Each panel will run approximately thirty minutes in the following format: first-year introduces the paper (10 minutes), full panel discussion (10 minutes), continued discussion/Q&A (10 minutes). Since the Berkeley Law Calendar doesn’t allow us to add attachments, please contact Griffin Brunk if you want abstracts or a copy of the papers.
Events are wheelchair accessible. For disability-related accommodations, contact the organizer of the event. Advance notice is kindly requested.
