Spring
2015 Semester Paid GSRs Needed
For
Criminal Justice and Immigration Projects
 
 

The Warren Institute is seeking students
to assist on the following projects:
 
 

▪ The
Intersection of Immigration Enforcement and Local Policing:  In partnership with the Haas Institute for a
Fair and Inclusive Society, the Warren Institute is developing a methodology to
assess the repercussions of immigration enforcement by local police.  Students should have experience with or an
understanding of policy research and surveys, ideally in the areas of
immigration or criminal justice.  Students will assist with
background research and outreach to identify possible sites for a community
survey; students will also assist with development of survey questions.  We are hiring 1-2 students for 8-10 hours per
week for the spring semester.
 
 

▪ Juvenile
Indigent Defense:  The Warren
Institute is working with the County of Los Angeles to evaluate the Public
Defender and panel counsel systems utilized to represent indigent juveniles in
the County.  Students should have some
understanding of how a criminal case progresses through the system.  Students will assist with research regarding
standards of indigent defense for juveniles, engage in outreach to comparison
jurisdictions, assist with interviews and write portions of the analysis. We are hiring 2-3 students for 8–10 hours per week for spring semester.
