Gary Loeb

Prior to joining Counsyl, Gary was SVP, General Counsel and Corporate Secretary at Amyris, Inc. and VP of Intellectual Property at Genentech, Inc.  Before joining Genentech in 2000, Gary practiced general commercial and intellectual property law.  Gary earned his J.D. from Columbia Law School and his B.S. (Biological Sciences) and B.A. (English) from Stanford University. Gary has lectured as an Adjunct Professor at the University of San Francisco School of Law since 2006.  Gary previously served as an Attorney Advisor on the Northern District of California’s patent local rules committee and currently serves on the Advisory Board for Stanford Law School’s Center for Law, Science and Technology.  By invitation, he was a panelist for the FTC’s hearings on the Evolving IP Marketplace.  As much as Gary embraces the intersection of law and science, he one day aspires to teach high school Biology.
