Clinic Director Deirdre Mulligan, Nathan Good, Rachna Dhamija, Jens Grossklags, Steven Aronovitz, David Thaw, and Joseph Konstan conducted a study on spyware and privacy. The results of the study are discussed in ”Stopping Spyware at the Gate: A User Study of Privacy, Notice and Spyware.” Spyware has emerged as a new type of software which can track activities both online and offline. The study involved users installing five applications to see how they responded to end user license agreements (EULA). The conclusion was that lengthy EULAs are generally overlooked, but short and concise EULAs are actually read by users.
