On September 26, 2016, the Korea Law Center co-hosted its fifth in-house career talk with Salle Yoo, General Counsel of Uber Technologies, Inc. Salle manages legal and regulatory issues for Uber, a $66 billion company with operations in over 250 cities and 50 countries. As in-house counsel, Salle spoke about the importance of spotting issues that will arise in the company several years down the road and about in-house lawyers as partners in growth. She shared three advice with students – that they should figure out their interests and follow them, to make friends, and to get engaged in community activities, whether it is legal or nonlegal. Salle was joined by Professor Justin McCrary, who moderated the talk.
The Korea Law Center co-sponsored the event with the Berkeley Center for Law and Business (BCLB), the Berkeley Center for Law and Technology, the Berkeley Business Law Journal (BBLJ), and Skadden. The talk is part of a lunch series presentation on legal careers as in-house counsel at top global and technology companies. Past presenters included Marie Oh Huber, General Counsel of eBay; Hyun Park, Senior Vice President and General Counsel of PG&E Corporation; Benjamin Lee, Twitter’s Vice President in charge of litigation and intellectual property matters and Deputy General Counsel; Andrew Kim, General Counsel of Netgear; and Bryan Ko, General Counsel of Logitech.
