Clinic Director Deirdre Mulligan co-authored a law review article with Jason Schultz entitled “Neglecting the National Memory: How Copyright Extensions Compromise the Development of Digital Archives.” The article discusses Eldred v. Ashcroft, an important copyright case which challenged the Copyright Term Extension Act. Copyright term extensions have not allowed digital archives and public resources to develop. This has had a negative impact on academic, research and judicial communities which rely on digital archives to achieve justice. Furthermore, copyright term extensions have been seen as damaging to the public good as they have not allowed digital archives to progress.
