Family and friends looked on proudly as recent Boalt graduates returned to Booth Auditorium on December 9 to be sworn in as the newest members of the State Bar of California. Justice Kathryn Mickle Werdegar ’62 of the California Supreme Court, Judge Thelton Henderson ’62 of the U.S. District Court, Northern District, and Judge William Fletcher of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 9th Circuit, administered the court oaths. This marked the fourth year that Boalt has hosted the ceremony for graduates who passed the July bar exam, offering a more intimate alternative to the mass swearing-in events staged in large auditoriums. The event has become an annual tradition at the law school, marked by solemn oaths, humor, inspirational advice—and the occasional babbling of babies.
