Jamie Calloway ’06 has been elected to the Albany School Board. Calloway garnered 25 percent of the vote, coming in second in total votes behind incumbent board member Miriam Walden.
Calloway and Walden ran a joint campaign under the banner of “Moms United for Albany Schools.” The two ran on a platform to increase teacher diversity and retention to better serve an increasingly diverse student body. They also campaigned on behalf of efforts to involve teachers in revising the curriculum so that it meets the needs of a wider range of students.
The Albany Unified School District serves about 3,400 students in its high school, middle school and three elementary schools.
