On Friday, February 18, judges from the U.S. Court of Appeals and the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California, along with in-house counsel from several corporations, addressed Perspectives on Patent Law and Innovation at a panel discussion in Berkeley.
Participating speakers included: federal Circuit Judges Richard Linn and Sharon Prost; federal District Court Judges Charles Breyer ’66, Jeremy Fogel and Ronald Whyte; and federal Magistrate Judges Elizabeth Laporte, Richard Seeborg and Joseph Spero. Corporate counsel from Genentech, eBay, Intel, Sanofi-Synthelabo and Apple Computer spoke. Also participating was Joseph J. Rolla, deputy commissioner for the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
