The American Bar Association honored several members of the Boalt Hall community this past weekend at its annual meeting in San Francisco.
Alan Brayton, a founding and senior partner of Brayton Purcell LLP, was distinguished with the ABA’s Pursuit of Justice Award. The award recognizes lawyers and judges who have shown outstanding merit and who excel in providing access to justice for all.
Later in the weekend, Elizabeth Cabraser, Campaign for Boalt Hall Co-Chair and partner at Lieff Cabraser Heimann & Bernstein, was honored with the ABA’s Margaret Brent Award. The achievement award, established by the ABA Commission on Women in the Profession in 1991, recognizes and celebrates the accomplishments of women lawyers who have excelled in their field and have paved the way to success for other women lawyers. Past Boalt Hall recipients have included Judge Marsha Berzon ’73, Angela Bradstreet ’80, Joanne Garvey ’61, Nancy Davis ’72, Roxana Bacon ’74, and former Dean and Professor Herma Hill Kay.
Professor Kay also received special honors from the Fellows of the American Bar Foundation – an honorary organization of lawyers, judges, and legal scholars whose public and private careers have demonstrated outstanding dedication to the welfare of their communities and to the highest principles of the legal profession.
