Nan Joesten ’97 will also be presented with the Young Alumni Award and former Dean Edward Halbach, Jr. will be recognized with the Faculty Lifetime Achievement Award. Black tie optional. Steven Weissman, Associate Director of Boalt’s Center for Law, Energy & the Environment (CLEE); and Sarah Barker Ball ’10, CLEE Energy & Cleantech Program Fellow; moderate a discussion of the impact of the Gulf of Mexico oil spill with David Caron ’83, C. William Maxeiner Distinguished Professor of Law, Co-Director, Miller Institute on Global Challenges and the Law, and President, American Society of International Law; and Elizabeth Cabraser ’78, Partner, Lieff Cabraser Heimann & Bernstein. 10:30–11:45 am U.S. Supreme Court Term Review, Boalt Hall Classroom
Jesse Choper, Earl Warren Professor of Public Law and former Dean, leads a panel discussion of the 2009-2010 U.S. Supreme Court Term with Charles Weisselberg, Shannon C. Turner Professor of Law; and Tracy Westen ’67, Vice- Chairman and CEO, Center for Governmental Studies. Among the important cases that will be discussed are the decisions on corporate campaign expenditures, Miranda rights, gun control, and juvenile life sentencing. One hour of MCLE general credit is offered.

Enjoy lunch with alumni and faculty and hear how the law school and legal education have evolved over the last 50 years from current Dean Christopher Edley, Jr., and former Deans Robert Berring ’74, Herma Hill Kay, Jesse Choper, and Ed Halbach. Eric Talley, Rosalinde and Arthur Gilbert Professor of Law, Co-Director, the Berkeley Center for Law and Business, leads a discussion on how commerce and consumers may be impacted by the new financial services industry legislation. Panelists include Prasad Krishnamurthy, Assistant Professor of Law, and Benson Cohen ’04. One hour of MCLE general credit is offered.
