RE:           Upcoming Events
DATE:      Summer 2019

I am happy to welcome you and to reiterate our pleasure that you have chosen to pursue your legal education at Berkeley Law! As Orientation and the first day of classes approach, I wanted to inform you of some important dates.

First, we want to inform you all (1Ls, LL.Ms, JSDs, PhDs, transfer students, visiting students, and Harvard Exchange students) about a special event we have planned in your honor: On Wednesday, August 14, the Office of Student Services and the Advanced Degree Programs Office will host an “Ice Cream Meet & Greet” to welcome you and your loved ones into the Berkeley Law family. This event will be held at the school from 2:30-4:30 p.m.

Next, for those of you who will be LL.M. students, your Orientation is scheduled for Monday, August 12, 2019. Orientation for entering J.S.D. students will be on Friday, August 16, 2019. For further details, you should contact the Advanced Degree Programs Office at (510) 642-1476.

Those of you transferring to Berkeley Law from other law schools should attend Transfer Orientation, on Wednesday, August 14, 2019, which will start at 9:00 a.m. Registration and breakfast will be available from 8:30 a.m. until 9:00 a.m. in Centennial Lobby. In addition to receiving all pertinent academic and administrative information during the morning, at lunch you will have an opportunity to meet former transfer students, now 3L Berkeley Law students. In the afternoon, you will have time to enroll in classes and accomplish multiple administrative tasks. Visiting Students should feel free to join us at these events.

We also want to remind ALL INCOMING 1Ls that Orientation will take place all day Thursday, August 15 and Friday, August 16, 2019. Our Orientation program will begin at 9:15 a.m. on Thursday and 8:45 a.m. on Friday in Booth Auditorium. Registration and breakfast will be available starting at 8:15 a.m. on both mornings outside of Booth Auditorium in the Centennial Lobby and in the East Courtyard. Our mandatory Orientation program is designed to provide you with essential information as well as an opportunity to meet your classmates, your professors, and students from the second and third years.

Classes start for everyone on Monday, August 19, 2019.
