Letter from Student Services

Dear Class of 2022:

WELCOME TO BERKELEY LAW! We are excited that you will be joining our law school community. Just as we are convinced we have made the right choice in inviting you to be members of the class of 2022, we know that you will be confident about your decision to study law at Berkeley. For here you will not only receive a top legal education, but you will also forge deep and lasting friendships with your classmates and the faculty.

Furthermore, during your three years at Berkeley you will get to know a group of administrators unlike any others you have previously encountered. You will find that all of us at the law school—in Student Services, Financial Aid, the Registrar’s Office, Career Development Office, the Academic Skills Program, Computer Services, Library Services, Admissions, and Building Services—strive to provide students with the best possible support within each of our areas. Our philosophy is built on a view of you, the students, as our primary customers. Our responsibility is to make sure you have a productive, stimulating, and rewarding three years at Berkeley. To that end, we will hold ourselves the highest standards of professionalism and compassion from ourselves in our dealings with you and with each other.

I know I speak for all my colleagues when I say that you should always feel free to come to us with problems, concerns, questions, criticisms, suggestions, and even praise! Our doors are always open, and we welcome as much input from and contact with you as possible.

Enjoy the rest of your summer. We look forward to meeting you and to beginning our three years together.

Best,

Annik Hirshen
Dean of Students
