The Japanese American Bar Association Foundation offers one or more scholarships each year to law students. The criteria for each scholarship are: 1) service in the Asian Pacific American community; 2) financial need; 3) overcoming adversity; 4) academic achievement; and 5) desire to practice law in the Southern Californa area. Please send any questions and completed application packets by email.

Japanese American Citizens League (JACL) National Scholarship Awards

The league offers three separate scholarships: the Thomas T. Hayashi Memorial Scholarship, the Sho Sato Memorial Scholarship, and the Abe and Esther Hagiwara Student Aid Award, which provides financial assistance to a student who otherwise would have to delay or terminate his or her education because of a lack of financing. Only applicants who exhibit severe financial need will be considered for the Hagiwara award.

Applicants must be active JACL members who are planning to attend law school in the fall. Applications are available online.
