UC Scholarships

 

The UC Berkeley Graduate Fellowships Office provides several university scholarships for graduate students. Most are awarded based on the student’s financial need as reflected on the FAFSA form.

Graduate Opportunity Fellowship (GOP)

The Graduate Opportunity Program Master’s Fellowship is an award for US citizens, permanent residents, and AB 540 applicants who are entering a terminal master’s or professional degree program.  The funding support consists of a $10,000 stipend ($5,000 per semester) and in-state graduate fees for one academic year. Recipients may have shown academic achievement despite challenges such as social, economic, or educational obstacles and demonstrate financial need as evidenced by the FAFSA. Nomination is required.

If selected for the GDP (Graduate Diversity Program) Scholarship, you will be nominated for the GOP fellowship.

  • To Apply: Submit Berkeley Law J.D. admissions application and Supplemental Gift Aid Application. Submit the FAFSA no later than March 2.
  • Award: Up to tuition and fees and a $10,000 stipend for the first year.

Dolores Zohrab Liebmann Fellowship

Liebmann Fellowships are awarded “to attract and support students with outstanding character and ability who hold promise for achievement and distinction in their chosen fields of study.” Candidates must be U.S. citizens with outstanding undergraduate records and demonstrated need for financial assistance. Eligible students include not only those in the humanities, social sciences, and natural sciences, but also those in professional programs like law, medicine, engineering, and architecture. This fellowship provides fees and tuition as well as an $18,000 annual living stipend and is renewable for up to three years of total support.
