Summer Options

In response to COVID-19 and the ongoing uncertainty regarding student visas and immigration, we have developed multiple enrollment options for the Summer 2021 semester of the LL.M. executive track. Students may opt to attend Summer 2021 classes remotely (online), on-campus, or a combination of remotely and on-campus (flex). Summer tuition fees are the same for all executive track students regardless of the method or duration of enrollment.

Berkeley Law is hoping to provide some in-person instruction in Summer 2021, but we do not yet know the form or extent of that in-person instruction; it will depend on many external factors outside of our control, including viral spread and public health requirements.

We recommend that you choose the enrollment option you prefer under the assumption that we will be able to provide the minimum in-person instruction to fulfill the requirements of an F-1 student visa, which we have been able to do for the past two semesters. If you choose an On-Campus or Flex option and subsequently cannot travel to Berkeley this summer or Berkeley Law is unable to provide in-person instruction, you will be able to take Summer 2021 classes remotely. New students (first-summer option B) also have the option to defer their admission, and continuing/returning students (option A and second-summer option B) can withdraw from the program and re-enroll next year.

Please see the chart below to learn about your options, and use these resources to help you decide which option is best for you.

How and when you select your enrollment option is determined by your cohort:

  • Students who begin the LL.M. executive track program in spring 2021 (option A) or who began the program (formerly the hybrid option) in 2020 or a previous year must submit this form to select their enrollment option by February 1, 2021 at the latest.
  • Students who begin the LL.M. executive track program in summer 2021 (option B) must submit this form to select their enrollment option by March 31, 2021 or as soon as possible after accepting admission.
  • Second-summer students who began the LL.M. executive track (formerly professional track) in 2020 or a previous year and are returning in summer 2021 must submit this form to select their enrollment option by January 31, 2021 at the latest.

Once you submit the form you can proceed with the NIF and the visa application process if you are an international student who will be attending on-campus or flex. Once this form has been submitted, your selection is considered final and cannot be changed, except in cases where a student chooses On-Campus or Flex and subsequently cannot travel to Berkeley this summer or Berkeley Law is unable to provide in-person instruction.

If you are an international student and you choose to take classes fully on-campus or through a combination or remotely and on-campus, the dates on your Document I-20 will match the start and end dates of your selected on-campus period.
