The J.S.D. program is designed for students engaged in or planning careers in academic or other work that emphasizes legal scholarship. Many LL.M. thesis track students intend to pursue a career in academia as well. They should be advised that the services provided by the career advisors in the ADP office do not support the academic career search.
J.S.D. and LL.M. thesis track students should seek counsel from their advisors, the Academic Placement Committee, and other faculty members regarding the academic job search. If a J.S.D. or LL.M. thesis track student’s career plan includes exploring non-academic positions, they are welcome to seek advice from the ADP career advisors in that regard.
Here are some resources and links applicable to those seeking a career in academia. Students should note that requirements and expectations in different countries may differ depending on the diverse cultural and professional expectations of academia internationally.
