NTIA (National Telecommunications and Information Administration): September 2015 Multistakeholder Meeting on Vulnerability Disclosure

National Telecommunications & Information Administration (NTIA) will convene the first meeting of a multistakeholder process concerning collaboration between security researchers and software and system developers and owners to address security vulnerability disclosure on September 29, 2015, at the University of California, Berkeley.

Special Counsel Kathryn Zalewski and Senior Staff Attorney David Smith at WilmerHale will address the various means for proving – and defeating – patent infringement allegations. What types of evidence can be used? How is that evidence collected, when, and from where? And how are expert witnesses used? These questions as well as tales of the good, bad, and the ugly will be discussed.

Big Ideas Contest

 
The 2015-2016 Big Ideas Contest is underway with up to $300,000 in prizes available to graduate and undergraduate students who have creative solutions to pressing social challenges. The contest features a variety of categories this year, and given the scope of your organization's work, we feel that the Information Technology for Society category would be of particular interest to students affiliated with UC Berkeley’s Center for Law & Technology! 
 
Student teams are required to submit a 3-page pre-proposal by 12pm PST on November 12th. To learn more about the rules and eligibility requirements of the category, please visit our Big Ideas website. We are holding a special Online Information Session for remote teams that will be webcast on October 13th at 3:00pm PST, where we can answer students’ questions about the contest.
