Posting Policy

Policy Governing Posting of Notices
The purposes of the following rules are to facilitate effective communication for members of the Boalt community, to provide abundant and fair access to audiences, to avoid visual blight and maintain an aesthetic environment consistent with the School’s mission, and to avoid fire and safety hazards and excessive maintenance costs.

Locations for Student-Posted Notices

  1. Any of the four strategically located This Week’s Events at Boalt bulletin boards: outside Room 124; outside Room 100; in the sub-lobby near the Simon Hall entrance and elevator; and in the West Basement corridor near Room 19.
  2. Bulletin boards located in main corridors and assigned by BHSA to the student’s group or journal.
  3. Bulletin boards outside the office of the student’s group or journal.
  4. Any other boards designated by BHSA for public use.
  5. The notice boards outside each classroom, which may be used for non-commercial same-day notices subject to these conditions: no use during review days and exam periods or when official notices are posted there; only notices announcing events to take place on the very day the notice is posted; removal of the notices after the event so that others may also use the boards. Non-complying notices will be removed.

No-Post Areas
Notices may be posted only on bulletin boards as authorized above. Notices may not be posted on walls, windows, doors, moldings, partitions, lockers, mailboxes, or other structural features of the Law Building or in the bathrooms. Notices posted outside the bulletin boards as authorized above will be removed.

Posting Details
Notices on This Week’s Events at Boalt bulletin boards should not exceed 8.5 x 11". We encourage students to choose materials for group or journal bulletin boards in the main corridors that are not so large or distracting as to be inconsistent with the purposes of the rules as stated above.

Notices should be posted within the perimeters of the bulletin boards. Do not use staples.

Students should remove their notices after the events they refer to are over.

Commercial notices may be posted only on boards designated for that purpose by BHSA.
