How to Order a Transcript

How do I order a transcript?
Just send your request in writing or fill out a Request for Law School Transcript available in the Registrar's Office. Be sure to include the full name you used at Boalt, the last four digits of your social security number, date of birth and, what year law student you are currently OR what dates you attended. Please make sure you sign the letter or form. We will not accept a request over the phone or any faxed requests.

Where do I send the letter?
Please mail your transcript request to:

    Office of the Registrar
    School of Law (Boalt Hall)
    270 Simon Hall
    UC Berkeley
    Berkeley, CA 94720-7200
    ATTN: Transcripts

How much does each transcript cost?
$1.00 is the fee for transcripts to be picked up, or to be mailed out when you attach a stamped addressed envelope. $4.00 is the fee when submitting a request for one transcript without providing a stamped envelope. We can fit two transcripts in a business size (#10) envelope with a first class stamp for domestic postage. Provide appropriate postage for international mailings. If you need more than two transcripts, please provide more stamped envelopes. Also be sure to send us a business size envelope. Please make checks payable to UC Regents. If you pay in person, make sure you have exact change. We do not accept credit card orders.

How long will it take?
The official, published turn-around time for any transcript request is ten business days from the time we receive your check. Sometimes we can process them more quickly. During peak times, however, it will indeed take ten business days, so please plan ahead. NEVER plan on being able to pick up your transcript before the ten working days.

Do you have a rush service?
No, we do not have a rush service. Our policy is to process each request as fast as we can. Please plan ahead and request it early enough to make your deadline.

Do you ever give out free transcripts?
Yes, we do. All 2Ls get one free transcript at the time of the On Campus Interview Program. The free 2L transcript is a one-time offer and must be picked up. We won't save transcripts that are not picked up for the OCIP. 3Ls get a free transcript too! The transcript that is needed by the bar, be it out of state or California, is sent to the bar free of charge. Make sure you have given us the Law School Certification (contained in the bar application) so we know which bar you are taking.

Can I get copies from my student file?
Yes, you can. For copies of items from your permanent file (e.g. undergraduate transcript, transcripts from other schools, personal statement, or LSDAS report), the cost is $5.00 for any number of items requested at the same time. If you forget to ask for something and we have to go back to your file, that's another $5.00. Please expect five working days for us to process this request.
