Scholarships for Women

American Association of University Women (AAUW)
The AAUW Educational Foundation provides funds to advance education, research and self-development for women, and to foster equity and positive societal change. The Selected Professions Fellowships offered by AAUW are awarded to women who intend to pursue a full-time course of study during the fellowship year in a degree program where women's participation traditionally has been low. Fellowships awarded to women in a Law program (J.D.)
are retricted to women of color. Applicants must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents.

Dorothy L. Weller P.E.O. Scholarship
The P.E.O. Foundation is a non-profit Iowa Corporation operated by the P.E.O. Sisterhood exclusively for educational and charitable purposes. This scholarship was established by the California State Chapter to honor Dorothy L. Weller, past President of P.E.O., for California women studying in the field of law. Applicants must be enrolled in law school, demonstrate financial need and have excellent records in scholastic ability, character, integrity and school activities.

Ethel Louise Armstrong Foundation Scholarship
These scholarships are available only to women graduate students with physical disabilities who are enrolled in a college or university in the United States. The applicant must be active in a local, state, or national disability organization - either in person or electronically - which is providing services and/or advocacy for people with disabilities.

Horizons Foundation Scholarship
The scholarship was established to encourage women to pursue careers related to the national security interests of the United States. Applicants must:

1) be currently enrolled at an accredited university or college;either full or part-time;
2) demonstrate interest in pursuing a career related to national security;national defense;
3) demonstrate financial need;
4) demonstrate academic excellence (minimum GPA of 3.25); and
5) be U.S. Citizens

Justice Pauline Davis Hanson Scholarship
Candidates must be female students who have successfully completed at least one year of law school. Preference will be given to current or former residents of California's Fresno, Kings, Madera or Tulare counties. Please call the number below for an application.

Northern Nevada Women Lawyers Association Scholarship
The Association is a non-profit corporation organized to advance women in the legal profession, improve the administration of justice, provide continuing legal educations to attorneys, and provide public education to the communities of Northern Nevada. The scholarship is available to a female law student who has strong academic credentials and school and community involvement and who can demonstrate a connection with Northern Nevada or the intention to practice in Northern Nevada.

P.E.O. International Peace Scholarship Fund
Applicants must be women from countries other than the United States and Canada. They must qualify for admission to full-time graduate study, have a full year of class work remaining and promise to return to their country immediately following the completion of their degree to pursue their professional careers.
