Community Foundation Sonoma County
The Michael F. O'Donnell Memorial Scholarship Fund was established to honor the memory of Michael F. O'Donnell who was recognized as a brilliant litigator distinguished by the qualities of supreme decency, honesty, humility and humanity. This fund will award scholarships to students currently enrolled in law school or pursuing a law-related career. Applicants must be residents of Sonoma County or attended a high school located in Sonoma County. Applications available online.

Black Lawyers Association of Cincinnati (BLAC) Scholarship
The William McClain Scholarship is offered to an African-American Cincinnatian who is enrolled in an accredited law school and has demonstrated leadership skills, a commitment to the Cincinnati community and financial need.

Edwards Scholarship Fund
The Edwards Scholarship is for Boston residents only. It is open to women and men of all races, nationalities and religions who are less than 25 years old and have lived within the Boston city limits since the beginning of their junior year of high school. Scholarships are granted based on financial need, scholastic ability, and good character. Recipients are encouraged to remember the fund when they are gainfully employed in their chosen professions. Donations to the fund are acknowledged in writing and are completely tax deductible.

Essex County Bar Foundation Scholarship
Every year the Essex County Bar Foundation offers a scholarship for a disabled law student in memory of Joseph J., Ricard J. and Vincent P. Biunno. Students with connections to New Jersey receive preference. Those interested should email the agency with their name and address.

Frank H. Lang Merit Scholarship
The law firm of Lang, Richert & Patch offers agrant towards payment of law school tuition to applicants who graduated from a high school in the Central Valley of California and are existing first-year law students or college students admitted to law school. The scholarship is awarded solely on merit, not on need.

Fresno County Bar Association Scholarship
Applicants must be residents of California's Fresno County who are students in good standing at a California law school accredited by the State Bar. Students in law schools outside Fresno County are eligible if their permanent family residence address is in Fresno County. Updated applications will be sent to law schools each fall.

Haneman-Perskie Memorial Foundation Scholarship
Each award is a one-year grant paid directly to the law school in the name of the recipient. To be eligible for the scholarship, an applicant must be a New Jersey resident admitted to law school. The grant is for one year and applicant may re-apply for the seconf and following years. The award shall be based on an academic ability, financial need, leadership potential, and character.

Harry A. Blackmun Scholarship
Recipients will be chosen based on several factors, including academic achievement, financial need and potential for making a contribution to society and the legal profession. Preference will be given to applicants with a significant tie to Justice Blackmun's home state of Minnesota.

Hon. Patricia Herron and Hon. Ellen James Scholarships
The Women’s Section of the Contra Costa County Bar Association awards at least two scholarships annually to local students who have completed at least one year of law school. The purpose of the scholarship is to provide financial and community support to local law students (male and female) who are in good standing and have demonstrated active community involvement, including involvement in or commitment to women's issues. Applications will be mailed to local law schools in the summer.

John Lewis King Scholarship
The San Bernardino County Bar Association established the scholarship in memory of the late John Lewis King, one of the formost trials attorneys of San Bernardino County. Recipients must have substantial contact with San Bernardino County and currently attend an accredited law school in California. Academic achievement, financial need, civic accomplishments and employment history will be considered in selecting recipients. A letter by each applicant, setting forth these factors will be required when applying as well as an official transcript of at least the last three years of academic work.

Justice Hollis G. Best Scholarship
This scholarship was established as a memorial to the late Presiding Justice Hollis G. Best to encourage and support outstanding academic achievement and commitment to service by law students. Candidates must be law students who have successfully completed at least one year of law school. Strong preference will be given to current residents of Fresno, Kern, Kings, Madera, Mariposa, Merced, Stanislaus, Tulare or Tuolumne Counties. Primary considerations are academic achievement and the breadth and depth of the applicant's extracurricular and community activities. Financial need and demonstrated leadership capabilities are also taken into consideration.

Justice Pauline Davis Hanson Scholarship
Candidates must be female law students who have successfully completed at least one year of law school and have not graduated. Preference will be given to current or former residents of California's Fresno, Kings, Madera or Tulare counties. Primary considerations are academic achievement and the breadth and depth of the applicants's extra-curricular and community activities. La Raza Lawyers Association of Santa Clara County
La Raza Lawyers Association of Santa Clara County provides grants to encourage and advance the social, cultural, economic and legal equality of minorities. The scholarships are available to La Raza students who 1) are from the Bay Area; or 2)attend Santa Clara University, Lincoln, UC Berkeley, USF , UC Hastings, Stanford, Golden Gate University, UC Davis, or McGeorge Schools of Law. In addition, the Association will consider activities such as, but not limited to, community involvement, peer counseling, school activities and financial need. Application available online.

La Raza Lawyers Association of Santa Cruz County
These grants are provided to encourage and advance the social, cultural economic and legal equalify of minorities. The scholarship grants are available to Latino students who are from Santa Cruz County, even if now living in a different county. The Association will look at financial need and activities such as community involvement, peer counseling, and school activities in determining the award recipients. Application available online.

Rhode Island Bar Foundation Scholarship
The objective of the Rhode Island Bar Foundation’s Scholarship Program is to support high standards in legal practice. It provides financial assistance to Rhode Island residents who show promise of becoming outstanding lawyers and need assistance to study at quality law schools. Scholarships shall be awarded exclusively for tuition and related expenses for persons domiciled in the state of Rhode Island who enroll as full-time students in programs leading to the award of the JD degree and offered by law schools in the U.S. and accredited by the ABA. Each scholarship award shall be made on the basis of the demonstrated good character, scholastic achievement, and financial need of the recipient.

San Mateo County Women Lawyers Section Educational Foundation
Applicants will be considered based on financial need, academic achievement, residential or other ties to San Mateo County, California, and involvement in activities, whether legal, scholastic, public, private or community. Applicants for the scholarship should submit a letter stating their qualifications for the award and information about why they should be chosen. Please include in the letter or as a separate attachment a list of all law school scholarships received and the amounts as well as specifics about how you are financing your law school education. Also, please provide a copy of your current law school transcript.

This scholarship is awarded to law students who are residents of Santa Barbara County, California, at the time of their application. The foundation is looking for financially needy students with strong academic records, worthy extracurricular activities and leadership potential. Scholarship Foundation of Santa Barbara
The Santa Barbara Scholarship Foundation awards scholarships to applicants who graduated from a high school in Santa Barbara County, California, or to adult re-entry students who resided in Santa Barbara for at least the last three years as nonstudents. Applicants must be full-time graduate students in the current academic year at approved U.S. colleges or universities.

The George A. Cavalletto Law Scholarship Fund is awarded to full-time law students. Applicants must have originally graduated from a high school in Santa Barbara County and be studying in a standard academic-year law program. Applicants must complete a Scholarships Foundation of Santa Barbara graduate application and submit with all supporting materials by January 31. A personal interview in Santa Barbara, California is required in March. Application available online.

Sonoma County Women-In-Law Scholarship
The scholarship is awarded annually to assist a law student in completing his or her education. The scholarship committee will consider the following attributes:

1) Sonoma County residence
2) academic achievement
3) financial need
4) second- or third-year law student status and
5) demonstrated interest in promoting equal opportunity and justice for all women.
