The Boalt Hall Loan Repayment Assistance Program (LRAP) is designed to aid Boalt Hall graduates who earned the Juris Doctor (J.D ) degree and are employed by either nonprofit public interest organizations or government agencies. Under this program, funded with Professional Degree Fee revenue, the School of Law provides participants with assistance for law school loan payments made during six-month periods for up to 10 years for student loans borrowed while attending Boalt Hall. For members of the graduating Classes of 2006 and beyond, the maximum amount of law school debt for which assistance is provided is $90,000 for federal and private educational loans and $10,000 for a bar study loan. The amount of program assistance will be prorated for participants with annualized incomes greater than $58,000.
Boalt Hall's LRAP is a forgivable loan program. To participate in the program for the January-June eligibility period, graduates should submit their application by November 15. LRAP participants who wish to have their forgivable loan for the January-June eligibility period canceled should submit their application and supporting documents by June 30.
To participate in the program for the July-December eligibility period, graduates should submit their application by May 15. To have the forgivable loan for the July-December eligibility period canceled, the application and supporting documents should be submitted by December 31.

Online Public Interest Information Exchange
Last year, the Career Development Office launched an online information exchange for alumni working in public interest positions throughout the country. The exchange is an opportunity to share what you know about organizations or job opportunities with your former classmates and also to get answers to questions that you might have. If you are interested in participating in this online community, please contact Terry Galligan (tgalligan@law.berkeley.edu) and provide him with your name and email address. If you are willing to be a resource for current Boalt students interested in public interest or government work, please also let him know.
