Courses
Berkeley Law provides a rich curriculum consisting of courses in both traditional law school subject areas as well as in emerging, cutting-edge fields.
For general information about courses offered at Berkeley Law, browse the subject categories in the right sidebar. The Schedule of Classes offers more specific information about current and next semester classes, including detailed descriptions and schedules. You can search for information about classes by instructor, course title or course number.
These courses feature a variety of classroom techniques, including:
- the Socratic method;
- formal lectures;
- informal lectures and discussions with groups of 20 to 30 students;
- seminar classes of fewer than 12 students; and
- skills and clinical classes where students have the opportunity to take on the role of lawyers either with real clients or in simulated settings.
In addition to the classes described here, topical courses are typically offered each semester. The courses listed on this site are regularly taught, although not every course is taught every semester. Course descriptions, content and requirements are subject to change.
