In her private conflict resolution practice, Carol Marshall specializes in mediation, arbitration, ADR system design and litigation portfolio evaluation. Her legal background has been primarily in state and federal civil litigation. Prior to going into private practice, she served as statewide Head of Litigation for a major business entity. Her substantive areas of specialization include: business, banking and commercial disputes; employment and workplace claims; real estate and construction matters, including those related to environmental contamination; intellectual property conflicts; antitrust issues, ADA access, directors' and officers' liability, and trade secret. She has a great deal of experience with international and cross-cultural issues and is a founding partner of a San Francisco law firm with an international focus.

Carol Marshall teaches mediation, conflict theory and other courses at law schools throughout the Bay Area as well as in other graduate level programs. She has taught Mediation at Berkeley Law since 2003. She received her own J.D. from UCLA Law and became a member of the California Bar in 1978. Born and raised in New York City, she also holds a Master's Degree from New York University and, prior to embarking on the study of law, was involved in the production of multi-media educational, testing and promotional programs in the greater New York area.
