Hilary Metra Gevondyan is a transactional real estate associate at DLA Piper LLP (US), where her practice focuses in the areas of commercial acquisitions, dispositions, and real estate finance.  She has experience representing banks, institutional and community finance lenders and commercial borrowers in connection with various joint venture structures and multi-layered debt vehicles for use in originating mortgage loans, tax-credit driven loans (including bond financings), mezzanine loans and multi-jurisdictional property portfolios. She regularly represents borrowers and lenders in complex loan workouts and restructurings.  She also represents a wide range of clients including real estate investment trusts in purchase, sale, and leaseback transactions and development projects.

Ms. Gevondyan is also extensively involved in pro bono service.  She has developed and implemented a U-Visa program for immigrant domestic violence survivors in collaboration with a client partner.  She has successfully represented various foreign nationals in their asylum applications, both administratively through the US Department of Homeland Security and in hearings in immigration court, and in their U-Visa applications.

Ms. Gevondyan holds adjunct teaching positions at U.C. Hastings College of the Law and Berkeley Law School.  She also frequently presents on transactional real estate topics at seminars and continuing legal education programs.  She is the author of "Keys To Co-Lending Agreements In Commercial RE," Law360, May 16, 2012 and "Federal Funds To Jumpstart Stalled Affordable Developments," GlobeSt.com, August 24, 2009 and the co-author of "B Note Purchases," Dechert On Point Structured Finance Report, Issue 4, Autumn 2006 (with David Linder).

Prior to her career as a lawyer, Ms. Gevondyan taught various business, finance and economics courses to university students in Uzbekistan.

Ms. Gevondyan is a graduate of Boston University (B.S., summa cum laude) and Harvard Law School (J.D.)  She is a member of the California bar.
