Adjunct Professor Arshad A. Ahmed is a trusted partner and advisor to private equity and venture capital firms and enterprises around the world. In 2012, he co-founded Elixir Capital, a private equity fund manager. Prior to launching Elixir Capital, he served as an international corporate lawyer and business counselor. He has substantial experience in private equity activities, mergers, acquisitions, buyouts, divestitures, corporate governance and all manner of business ventures, and has long been a proponent of financing strategies based on equitable profit-and-risk sharing. He is also recognized as a leading authority in and critic of Shari'ah-related investment practices and contemporary Islamic banking and finance, and he has taught and spoken widely on such matters including those pertaining to the application of Shari'ah law in contemporary transactions. In addition to Berkeley Law, he serves as faculty with the International and Executive Legal Education program at the University of California, and also serves as adjunct professor at the UC Hastings College of the Law.
