This course is geared for students handling an asylum case. We will examine the entire affirmative asylum process from the initial client meeting through the preparation of the application and the asylum interview. Though there will be some coverage of substantive asylum law, the focus will be on the nuances of working through the considerable challenges that asylum cases present. In this discussion-based class, each student will be expected to address the particular challenges of his/her case. We will meet for seven two-hour classes, front-loaded in the early part of the semester.
