This course will explore the roles of government, developers, and the environmental community in shaping land use patterns in urban and non-urban areas. We will look at developing trends in regional governmental agencies, and the influence of state and federal resource agencies in the land use world. We will focus on, among other things, efforts to reduce greenhouse gas through land use regulation, as well as the pressures affecting California's landscape due to the dramatic emergence of the wind and solar industries over the last two years.
