This 3-unit, Professional Responsibility satisfying class, examines the legal rules governing lawyers and the relationship between lawyers' obligations under the law and their broader ethical duties as members of society and the legal profession. This semester the class will cover confidentiality & privilege issues, protection of the lawyer client relationship, conflicts of interest,the lawyer;s duty to police her clients, globalization and the internet.Students can choose between (i) taking a page-limited take-home exam or (ii) writing a 30-page paper on any aspect of the legal profession, its regulation, or ethics. The paper can satisfy the writing requirement.

This course satisfies the Professional Responsibility Requirement.
