This mandatory course (and its continuation course, Fundamentals of U.S. Law) exposes LL.M. students to the American approach to analyzing legal sources such as cases and statutes.

The goal of this class is to introduce students to the method of analysis taught in U.S. law schools. Students will study the structure of U.S. court system, the sources of U.S. law, the lawyer's role in the system, and the 'culture' of the law in the United States. The class will focus primarily on the means U.S. lawyers employ to navigate our legal and political institutions.
