The Death Penalty Clinic is counsel or co-counsel for several individuals who are under a death sentence, and sometimes serves as counsel in additional litigation, such as litigation at the trial stage and serving as counsel for amici curiae in capital cases in state and federal courts. Students enrolled in the Death Penalty Clinic work under the supervision of Elisabeth Semel, Professor of Clinical Law and the Clinic Director, Ty Alper, Assistant Clinical Professor of law and Associate Director, Clinic Staff Attorney Kate Weisburd, and with a paralegal and investigators who are members of the legal teams assigned to individual cases. Students must enroll for a minimum of 4 unites.
Prerequisites:
Enrollment is limited to students who were admitted into the Death Penalty Clinic for the 2010-11 Academic Year. There will be no new admissions for the Spring 2011 Semester.
This course may satisfy the Writing Requirement.
