Growing concern for the effects of global climate change have focused public policy on promoting the development and diffusion of renewable and alternative energy technologies. This two-semester seminar will explore the broad contours of this new era of environmental and energy policy from multiple perspectives -- environmental protection, energy regulation, technology and intellectual property policy, and business finance. We will develop a framework for analyzing the interrelationship between cleantech and environmental policy. Based upon this framework, each student in the seminar will develop an in-depth case study of a major cleantech project.
In the spring semester, students will continue to revise their papers, engage in peer editing of other student papers, present their projects to the other seminar participants, and attend a series of lectures made by prominent energy and clean technology industry professionals and policymakers.
This is a continuation of the Fall 2010 Energy and Cleantech Research Seminar I, and is not open to new enrollment in Spring 2011. Students interested in taking the course in the 2011-2012 school year should look for applications available in April 2011.
Prerequisites:
Completion of the Energy and Cleantech Research Seminar I in Fall 2010
This course may satisfy the Writing Requirement.
