This course goes beyond accident law to examine defamation, invasion of privacy, fraud and deceit, false claims, and other torts that usually occur in the business setting (including consumer fraud). The torts considered in this course touch upon constitutional concerns (especially freedom of speech). They also often involve the sort of high value litigation one finds in major "corporate" law firms and elite plaintiffs' firms.

Students may meet the course requirements either by completing an in-class examination or by writing a substantial paper (30 pages).
