This course will focus on the problems of large multi-party and multi-forum civil cases and how courts and litigants deal with them. Coverage will include class actions; federal multi-district litigation; discovery problems; judicial case management; and strategies for accelerating or settling cases. The subject matter will include mass torts, securities litigation, antitrust, environmental law, employment discrimination, consumer fraud, human rights, and other complex types of cases.
